‘Twilight’ Author Stephenie Meyer Claims ‘Breaking Dawn’ Birth Scene Isn’t Graphic

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer recently commented on the Breaking Dawn birth scene, one the most anticipated scenes of the last installment. Meyer told USA Weekly that the scene isn’t very graphic from what she’s seen so far.

“I’ve only see a rough cut and there are pieces missing, but I don’t feel like it’s graphic,” Meyer revealed, “You’re not seeing it, but you know what’s happened. It’s emotional. It doesn’t feel horror-ish. There’s blood, probably the most blood we’ve ever seen in the series. But everything’s in flux; we’ll see in the final cut.”

This goes hand-in-hand with what Breaking Dawn producer Wyck Godfrey had said earlier this year about the audience seeing what Bella sees. “She is looking through the haze, experiencing pain and everything rushing around her. We only see what she sees.” Godfrey explained.

We figure this is probably a good way to avoid having to figure out how to visually depicted what fans read in the book (i.e. the actual birth). Twilight fans have been looking forward to this installment for a number of reasons, and Bella and Edward’s honeymoon and the birth scene of Renesmee are probably the two biggest! We hope that the lack of what we see in the birthing scene doesn’t let us down.

  1. i cant wait for the scene where edward takes bella hunting for the first time after her change, its going to be amazing to see how kristen balances choosing not tot attack edward over the bloodlust. its also going to be fun watching kellan and kristen take each other on after her change LOL!

  2. Rebecca – thanks for that note. I’ve made the correction! 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing Kristen and Kellan too Amy! We haven’t seen much interaction with her and the other Cullen clan yet aside from Alice so I’m really looking forward to that 🙂

  3. Im looking forward to bella’s transformation aswell as seeing renessmee growing up as fast as its written in the book.It certainly will be a massive change in feel to the entire movie with bella being a vampire and seeing how she copes with it and being something that she has craved for a very long time,Im very curious to see how they portray edwards reaction towards it aswell, because he was always dead(no pun intended)set against it,believing bella to be better off human. It shall be a great movie how ever they do it as i loved the other movies and the books are just as incredible 🙂

  4. if they cut out the birth scene then there is no point in seeing the movie.that part is on of the biggest one every one is looking forward too.

  5. I’m really looking forward to the part where Edward can’t take it amymore and he tells Jacob he can have Bella. Where Edward’s on he’s knees asking Jacob to convince Bella to get rid of the baby because its killing her…that’s one of my favorite scenes. Will we be seeing Jacobs POV in the movie also?
