Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Cars 2’ Takes The #1 Spot

Cars 2 took the #1 spot at the box office this weekend. The animated film from Pixar took in $68 million in its opening weekend. Opening strongly in the #2 spot was Cameron Diaz’s Bad Teacher grossing $31 million in its opening weekend. Green Lantern took a hefty fall in its second week grossing $18.4 million. Super 8 dropped two spots to #4 with $12.1 million in its third week. Jim Carrey’s Mr. Popper’s Penguins held on decently in its second week, slipping to #5 with $10.3 million.
