Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Takes #1 Spot

Rise of the Planet of the Apes took the #1 spot at the box office this weekend grossing $54 million dollars. The Smurfs held onto the #2 spot in its second weekend with $21 million. Cowboys & Aliens fell two spots in its second weekend, slipping to #3 with $15.7 million. The Change-Up opened disappointingly at #4 with $13.5 million. Captain America: The First Avenger slipped two spots to #5 in its third weekend with $13.0 million.
