Theatrical Releases for December 9th: ‘The Sitter,’ ‘New Year’s Eve’ And More!

The Sitter, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and more hit theaters today! We have the full list of this weekend’s new releases below!

A Warrior’s Heart (PG), Drama – In shock and denial over his Marine father’s death in combat, a high school lacrosse star starts acting out in self destructive ways until he’s kicked off the team and sent to a wilderness lacrosse camp run by his dad’s combat buddy. Strengthened by the support and understanding of his new found love and through a deep understanding of the game and its Native American roots, he opens his eyes to the true meaning of sportsmanship, love and life. Stars Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, and Adam Beach.

Catch .44 (R), Thriller – Tells the story of three friends who work for an enigmatic, reclusive crime boss. When he sends the friend to intercept a drug deal at a desolate diner, they think nothing of it, until a sociopathic killer, a grizzled trucker and a delusional line cook appear and thrust the situation into chaos. A standoff ensues as the mystery of what brought them together slowly starts to unravel and it quickly becomes apparent that things are not as they seem. Stars Kate Mara, Forest Whitaker, and Bruce Willis.

I Melt With You (R), Drama – An intense character drama about four men who look within themselves and find emptiness. Stars Jeremy Piven, Thomas Jane, and Rob Lowe.

In Darkness (R), Drama – In Nazi-occupied Poland, a sewer worker and petty thief begin sheltering Jews in underground tunnels for profit.

Ladies Vs. Ricky Bahl (NR), Comedy – A charismatic ladies-man cons women for a living until he finally meets his match when some of his former conquests develop a crafty plan.

New Year’s Eve (PG-13), Romance – The lives of several couples and singles in New York intertwine over the course of New Year’s Eve. Stars Robert De Niro, Lea Michelle, Abigail Breslin, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, and Ashton Kutcher.

The Sitter (R), Comedy – A suspended college student, living at home with his single mom, is talked into baby-sitting the kids next door: two boys and a wild 8-year-old girl. Stars Jonah Hill, Landry Bender, and J.B. Smoove.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (R), Thriller – The story of a spy-hunt within the highest echelons of the British Secret Intelligence Service. Stars Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, and Ralph Fiennes.

W.E. (R), Drama – The year is 1998 and the auction of the estate of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor is coming up. But the auction is far more than a diversion for a transplanted Southerner trapped in an unhappy and abusive marriage. Transfixed by the exquisite artifacts of the Windsors’ lives, she becomes obsessed with the love story of the chic, charismatic American who captured the heart of King Edward VIII. As she learns more about the sacrifices made in choosing to be with Edward, she finds the courage to follow her own heart and create her own happiness. Stars Abbie Cornish, Andrea Riseborough, and Oscar Isaac.

We Need to Talk About Kevin (R), Drama -Tells the story of a smart, educated New York mother who does her best to raise a son she never wanted in the first place. He turns out to be extremely difficult and is at the center of the woman’s marital breakdown before going on a killing spree at his high school with a crossbow. Stars Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly, and Ezra Miller.

Young Adults (R), Comedy – A thirtysomething, divorced, young-adult fiction writer in Minneapolis returns to her hometown to chase the ex-boyfriend that got away, who’s now married with a kid. Stars Charlize Theron, Patton Oswalt, and Patrick Wilson.
