Weekend Box Office Report: ‘New Year’s Eve’ Takes #1 From ‘Breaking Dawn’

New Year’s Eve broke vampire stranglehold on the box office opening with $13.7 million. Jonah Hill’s The Sitter opened at the #2 spot with $10.0 million. After three weekends at the top The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 finally slipped, dropping to #3 with $7.9 million. The Muppets slipped two spots to #4 in its third week with $7.1 million. Arthur Christmas dropped just one spot in its third week, slipping to #5 with $6.6 million.
