Adam Sandler Making ‘Candyland’ Movie

Hasbro has announced via press release that their film adaptation of Candyland has moved from Universal to Sony, and that Adam Sandler has signed on to produce and star in the film. The company is in final talks to develop the live-action take on the board game with Columbia Pictures and Sandler’s Happy Madison production company. Kevin Lima (Enchanted) will direct the film with Sandler and Robert Smigel writing the script.

“Candy Land is more than just a game,” said Columbia president Doug Belgrad. “It is a brand that children, parents and grandparents know and love. The world of Candy Land offers an extraordinary canvas upon which to create a fantastical, live-action family adventure film with a larger than life part for Adam. We are thrilled to partner with Hasbro and Happy Madison on this project.”
