Weekend Box Office Report: ‘The Vow’ Comes in #1 Spot with $41.7M

The Vow won a record-breaking weekend at the box office opening to an impressive $41.7 million dollars to take the pre-Valentine’s Day box-office crown. Opening at #2 and also over-performing was the Ryan Reynolds/Denzel Washington film Safe House bringing in $39.3 million. Opening in #3, also above expectations, was Journey 2: The Mysterious Island bringing in $27.6 million. Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace finished at #4 in its first weekend of 3D rerelease with $23 million. With the four new movies opening high, Chronicle fell four spots to #5 with $12.3 million.
