Weekend Box Office Report: ‘The Avengers’ Holds Onto #1 Spot

It was all about The Avengers at the box office again. The Marvel superhero team-up film took the #1 spot this weekend with $55.1 million. Opening at #2 was Battleship, which brought in just $25.3 million. The first weekend for The Dictator saw it hit #3 with $17.4 million. Dark Shadows fell two spots to #4 in its second weekend, bringing in $12.8 million. The ensemble rom-com What to Expect When You’re Expecting opened disappointingly at #5 with $10.5 million.
