Review:
There’s a relatively small amount of films that simply must be apart of everyone’s DVD collection. All 3 of the Indiana Jones films are in that group. No matter the type of movies you like, it’s a given that you’ll love the Indy movies. In light of the recent release of the 4th installment, the original 3 films have been re-released as special editions in the Adventure Collection. I actually recommend picking this set up instead of going to see the 4th film, in fact, it would be best if we just pretended that the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull never existed. Unless the idea of Indiana Jones meets Stargate meets Cheaper by the Dozen sounds like it’s something you would enjoy.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, by far the best of the saga, set the tone for adventure early on as Indiana Jones is hired by the US government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis. Along the way he finds himself embedded in the center of a series of chases, fights, and traps that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Temple of Doom is probably the most graphic of all of the films due to the infamous heart scenes that gave many people nightmares in their youth. After Jones arrives in India, he is asked by a village to find a mystical stone. After Jones agrees, he finds that he has stumbled across a secret cult plotting a horrible plan in the catacombs of an ancient palace.

And following the last two up, to put an end to the Jones saga (at least in my mind) is The Last Crusade. Sean Connery gives a wonderful performance as Jones Sr, and when he goes missing while searching for the Holy Grail. Indiana Jones must follow in his father’s footsteps and stop the Nazis. The last crusade, it should well be.

This new release includes a ton of special features not limited to: new intro’s to all of the films, opening scene storyboards, photo galleries, game demo, and a number of featurettes about each of the 3 films. Simply a must have for any film lover. These 3 films will go down in history as one of the best adventure sagas ever told. The tagline for Temple of Doom sums up all these films the best, if adventure does have a name… it’s Indiana Jones.
