DVD Review: The Office Season 6 Blu-ray

The Office has come a long way since Season 1. Season 6 which hit shelves earlier this month saw some major life-changing moments for our favorite employees… or at least for Jim and Pam (or Jam as I like to call them).

During this season there is a shift in ownership of Dunder Mifflin to printer company Sabre which is owned by Jo Bennett (played by Katy Bates – a wonderful Cruella Devilla like addition to the show). Jim and Pam get hitched and have a baby, Darryl gets a promotion to middle management, Michael hooks up with Pam’s mom, there is a glimmer of hope between Angela and Dwight, and we see Andy confess his love for Erin in some rather unconventional ways.

The Office continues to do awkward humor better than any other show on television, and continues to be one of my personal favorites. But I feel we had some big shark jumping moments this season. As much as I love Jim and Pam, and wanted to see them together since the very first episode of this series, I felt like it all happened too quickly in this season. And while I appreciate the cute and unpolished courtship between Andy and Erin, I still feel that the series has lost a little bit of it’s original romantic edge.

My favorite moment for this series will continue to be Dwight’s fire drill which is in Season 5 (My personal favorite season). I haven’t seen anything that has topped it since, but I’m hopeful for Season 7 which starts the end of this month and will also mark the last season with Steve Carell. The Office has had a good run, but I’m not sure how much longer they can keep it going with the awkward antics of Michael Scott.
