‘The Vampire Diaries’ 4.12 Recap And Review: A View To A Kill

I honestly cannot even put into words how much I adored that insanely epic, fantastic, thrilling, heart-stopping episode of The Vampire Diaries! I’ll admit, I’ve been falling slightly out of TVD craze, but lately the fascination that hooked me in during season one has jolted back! The last few episodes have been absolutely perfect, and ‘A View To A Kill’ was no exception!

Last week, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) had vamp sex, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) was compelled and also locked up, and Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) went batshit. Now, it’s time to deal with the happenings of last week’s episode! Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) devise a plan to protect Jeremy from Kol, and to complete his hunter’s tattoo. Their goal is to kill Kol, but if we’ve learned one thing from TVD, it’s that things never go as planned. There are many, many loose ends to the plan, but nonetheless! They go along with it anyway.

Damon unknowingly keeps Klaus (Joseph Morgan) occupied, discussing love and redemption, while Stefan lures Rebekah out of her house to a cancelled dance so that Matt (Zach Roerig) can search her house for a stake. Bonnie (Kat Graham) is forced to sit through a witch-vention with her father and her mother, Abby (Persia White), who we haven’t seen all season! Meanwhile, Elena decides to stall Kol, leading him to believe that she wants a truths. Over drinks and video games, Kol explains to Elena that by raising Silas, they will inevitably bring hell on earth. Even after all of that, Elena is still dead-set on finding the cure. Honestly, I don’t really see the point anymore. It’s obvious that Elena has accepted her Vampirism, Stefan has expressed that he could care less now that Elena has torn his heart out… Abby doesn’t care for it, as long as Bonnie drops the dark magic. The only person who seems to remotely care about the cure is Rebekah and Shane now.

Regardless, after a massive fight scene, Kol ends up dying (all for the sake of the cure that barely anyone cares about) and Klaus, as expected, is anything but pleased. Cue badass Bonnie! Using her dark magic, Bonnie traps Klaus in Elena’s living room, buying them some time to escape his wrath. Contrary to what everyone thought, Rebekah took Kol’s death drastically better than Klaus. There were tears, but she eventually gave in and decided to continue to work with the gang to find the cure… Much to Elena’s distaste.

After all of that, it’s finally time to go searching for the cure! I’m so excited for next week’s episode, I can hardly wait! Hopefully TVD will keep up its current awesomeness. After the last few episodes, next week’s has a hell of a lot to follow! I’m expecting numerous quotable one-liners, Rebekah/Stefan action, jealousy from Damon and Elena, and more of dark Bonnie! ‘A View To A Kill’ was epic. That’s all I can say. Although I loved Kol, his death played a crucial part in this series… And I’m not just talking about being the reason behind Jeremy ripping off his shirt.

A+++

Questions:

  • What’s going to happen to Klaus? What is he going to do once he’s free?
  • How are you liking Stefan and Rebekah? Does Elena have a right to be upset?
  • Thoughts on Bonnie’s use of expression? Will it be her downfall?
  • What’s going to happen when Silas rises?

  1. excellent episode except for the fact that they killed off my favorite character on the show. i think bonnie’s parents are crazy and bonnie is already on thin ice with her magic and if they keep pushing her she is going to completely lose it and go off the deep end (like shane said she is a ticking time bomb). what i want to know is how come everyone was able to see jeremy’s tats this time at the end of the episode? i thought only hunters could see the marks?

  2. Yeah, I was a little disappointed about Kol’s death too! Nate is such a gem. And I cannot get enough of dark Bonnie! It’s reminding me a lot of BTVS when Willow turned dark… And I’m unsure about the answer to your last question. My only guess could be that once the tattoo is complete, everyone can see it? Maybe? Hopefully they’ll answer that next week!

  3. See I didn’t like the dark willow storyline on BTVS and I’m not like where this is going with Bonnie either. Guess we just gotta trust the writers and hope for the best
