Barenaked Ladies Star In Plane Crash

BARENAKED LADIES frontman ED ROBERTSON escaped serious injury after surviving a plane crash on Sunday (24Aug08).

The singer was reportedly piloting his own boat-plane from Baptiste Lake near his hometown of Bancroft, Ontario, but struck trouble after the aircraft entered woodland area.

Local police claim the craft was wrecked after it went down in the woods but all four passengers survived unharmed.

Sgt. Jeff MacKinnon tells Canadian paper The Intelligencer, “At 12.30pm a Cessna 206 was taking off from Baptiste Lake, lost airspeed and entered a wooded area west of the lake.”

He added the four passengers managed to escape and reported the crash.

A spokesman for the band adds, “Everyone is fine and that is the important thing.”

Robertson is a keen pilot, and received his license in 2005, even starring in his own reality show, Ed’s Up, in 2007, in a bid to try and earn his boat-plane license.

Robertson must be a really good pilot to keep things under control and protect himself and his passengers. Media types tend to overblow any kind of incident involving a plane (I used to be a news producer, but I didn’t go nuts if a plane had a rough landing).
