Mischa Barton Skips Film Premiere Because Of Medical Issue

Mischa Barton skipped the New York premiere of her new psychological thriller, Homecoming, on Thursday because of a medical issue, according to reports.

On Wednesday afternoon, Los Angeles police were called to her home, where authorities assisted the actress with a medical problem, a spokesperson for the LAPD told Access Hollywood. The police spokesperson would not comment on what kind of treatment she needed.

One of Homecoming’s producers, Austin Stark, told People, “There were some medical problems. She’s not able to travel, as far as I know.” Barton’s rep confirmed that she would not be appearing at the premiere, but did not reveal any further details. The film co-stars Jessica Stroup (90210) and Matt Long (Jack & Bobby).

“I along with everyone on the Homecoming team are saddened to hear that Mischa Barton will not be able to attend the film’s premiere,” director Morgan J. Freeman said in a statement. “Her performance in Homecoming is fantastic, and she will be missed… We hope she is OK and that her condition is not serious.”

An alumna of The O.C., Barton is now a cast member of the new CW series The Beautiful Life: TBL, premiering Sept. 16. A spokesperson for the show declined to comment for TVGuide.com on how Barton’s medical issue might affect her availability. Production on the series starts July 22.

  1. I hope it is not something that is life threatening, and she has a fell recovery from what ever it is. She is a talented actress.
