Rogen And Apatow VS Heigl In War Of Words

In the January 2008 issue of Vanity Fair, “Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl made one of her most infamous remarks by calling her movie “Knocked Up” “a little sexist” and saying that the movie “paints the women as shrews.” Given the very short time span between her comments and the worldwide release of the Judd Apatow movie, in which she starred as a woman who gets pregnant after having a one night stand with a slacker (played by Seth Rogen), the press and fans – of both the movie and of Heigl’s – were shocked by her negative remarks.

At the time, neither Apatow nor Rogen made a response to Heigl’s comments. That is, not until the duo visited Howard Stern’s radio show to promote their new movie “Funny People.” In response to Heigl’s comments, Rogen responded, “That [movie] looks like it really puts women on a pedestal in a beautiful way,” a sarcastic dig at Heigl’s new romantic-comedy “The Ugly Truth” – which is already notorious for a scene in which Heigl’s character wears vibrating underpants.

Apatow noted that he was shocked by Heigl’s remarks, explaining that there was no tension on the set of “Knocked Up.” “We never had a fight. … She could not have been cooler,” he said to Stern.

Neither of the men is disheartened by the nearly two year old comments. “I’ve got to say it’s not like we’re the only people she said some batsh– crazy things about,” Rogen said. “That’s kind of her bag now.”

There have been some reports that Heigl was merely responding to a direct question from her Vanity Fair interviewer that proposed that “Knocked Up” was sexist and that Heigl was simply agreeing with her innocently. However, that cannot be confirmed nor denied.

Heigl’s reps could not be immediately reached by TVGuide.com for a response.

“Funny People” will go head to head with “The Ugly Truth” at the box office this weekend and is expected to trump “Truth,” which will be in theaters for its second weekend, in ticket sales.

  1. These comments, in conjunction with her comments about having to work so many hours on “Grey’s Anatomy” makes me think that either she is a whiny witch OR she has some serious personal issues that are causing her to be cranky.

  2. So, she doesn’t like the way women were portrayed in the movie. Get over it boys the movie was a pointless, raunchy comedy, it’s suppose to be laughed at and made fun of.
