The Daily Show’s John Oliver Gets Engaged

The Daily Show correspondent John Oliver is engaged to his girlfriend of two years, Iraq War vet Kate Norley, according to People.

The couple began dating after meeting at a 2008 Republican National Convention, which Oliver was covering. The 33-year-old British-born political comedian popped the question to Norley back in July during their summer getaway in St. Thomas. Oliver revealed his engagement Saturday at Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Stars autism benefit.

“It’s the most emasculating thing I could possibly do to go out with someone who has actually done something valuable with their life,” Oliver jokingly told People.

An exact date for the wedding has yet to be set, but the couple plan to tie the knot sometime next year.
