Fox drama ‘Lone Star’ is already on the chopping block after its series premiere Monday.
It’s not uncommon these days, but seeing as how critics had been hailing the show, it’s an odd move.
“No one in TV should be happy about this,” said one agent who reps a writer on the show. “This is going to have a chilling effect on networks taking chances on anything but cookie-cutter shows.”
‘Lone Star’ drew 4.1 million viewers with ‘House’ as a lead in, which is considered very low.
“Those are Friday night numbers on a Monday night premiere,” said a veteran TV analyst. “That’s a nice cable audience.”
