Johnny Depp Talks: Why I Haven’t Married Vanessa Paradis

Can you possibly think of one downfall to marrying Johnny Depp? I can’t! However, the actor himself has one very good reason [he thinks] why he hasn’t gotten hitched yet:

His Surname

Yep. That, he claims, is what has kept him from popping the question to his baby mama and partner of 12 years, Vanessa Paradis. “I’d be so scared of ruining her last name,” Depp explained. “She’s got such a good last name.”

However, as Depp continues, I’m getting the idea that maybe marriage doesn’t necessarily hold value to him that much, as he states: “I never found myself needing that piece of paper. Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don’t need somebody to say, ‘Okay, you’re married.'”

On the other hand, Depp adds: “if Vanessa wanted to get hitched.” Well Johnny, if she doesn’t let me know – I’ll be on the next train to Hollywood – meet me at the chapel, it’s goin’ down!

But really, my main concern seems to be: has Depp not checked out newlywed celebrities these days? For example, Katy Perry? Marriage doesn’t necessarily mean a name change – to each it’s own!
