Jerry Rice Visits Bay Area Hospital And Lifts Spirits On Eve Of Pro Am

This week marks the 3rd annual Jerry Rice Pro Am at TPC Stonebrae. Rice took time out of his busy schedule to visit Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley earlier this week. The NFL legend turned heads as he made his way through the ICU and trauma centers at the hospital doing his part to make a handful of patient’s days a little brighter.

Many families were donning 49ers gear knowing the super star was planning on visiting. A few were utterly shocked as Rice made his way through multiple floors of the hospital. He posed for pictures with nurses, doctors, and security staff as well as the patients. Rice’s upbeat demeanor has an infectious effect. Always quick with a smile and never one to deny an autograph request, Rice was the perfect athlete to make people feel a bit better about their situation.

Many events surround the play on the course. Although the after parties and red carpets are fun, and all raise money for a good cause, the hospital visit has an immediate effect on athlete and fan alike. Joining Rice on his trip were three Pro Am golfers. All four of them were happy to spend a few hours signing autographs and snapping photos.

Rice also received a tour of the hospital and praise from doctors who endorsed the positives of a celebrity visit. The effect on patients is undeniable. It puts them in a better mood that can lead to a speedier recovery.

One man was shocked to see Rice at his bed side having been on his way to work a mere three hours before he was greeted by the NFL hall of famer in the ER. The man had been hit by a car while riding his bike to work. He was stable and looking forward of getting back on his feet.

Rice will be back to playing golf the rest of thew eek raising money for multiple charities along with NFL alumni and pro am stars.
