‘Vampire Diaries’ Stars Nina Dobrev And Ian Somerhalder Split

It’s official. Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have split according to a source that spoke to Us Weekly. The couple is calling it quits after more than three years together while filming the hit CW series The Vampire Diaries in Atlanta.

Somerhalder and Dobrev first spoke about their relationship publicly in 2011, and Dobrev even opened up about falling for Somerhalder in an interview with Seventeen magazine last fall. “I didn’t want to be dating one of my costars — my goal on the show was to be professional. But sometimes you can’t help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long – which I did for a really, really long time.”

The insider source commented saying that the couple are “consummate professionals” and “will continue to work together and remain best friends, which is where the relationship started.”

Reps for the actors have yet to commit on the breakup.

  1. Guess this is why she has been spending time with Julianne Hough. 🙁 This might be the end of the road for me and TVD now. I haven’t been enjoying this season at all and I don’t think I could enjoy D&E anymore anyways.

  2. I know they say that breakups won’t effect onscreen – but it definitely does effect onscreen chemistry. Or at least I feel it has with other actors that have dated on shows that I’ve watched.

  3. this is so weird. I thought them being together was kinda weird but I hope they’ll be good and not have it mess up with them being together for filming and stuff
