‘Smallville’ Producers Talk 200th Episode And Season 11

Could Smallville‘s current season of creativity and high ratings open the door for yet another season? Show runners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson say never say never…

After Smallville‘s incredible 200th episode recently, that very question was asked during a private panel for the press, and shockingly, a response was returned!

“I can’t say it’s the first time the words season 11 have creeped up this year,” says show runner Brian Peterson. “As we’ve been pushing that it’s the final season of Smallville, I think it’s the final season of Smallville. We don’t know [of any] plans, but we never bet against ourselves and the show.”

Peterson also went on to answer the question as to why so much juicy goodness was laid out on the table for us during the recent epic episode, explaining: “We really wanted this to be a positive season and a season of growth and forward movement, so if [all of this] happened late in the season it felt like…the very last second before his big move into Superman. We wanted it to launch the season, not just cap it off.”

Oh, and if that isn’t enough, Kelly Souders chimed in with the answer to the constant question in fans’ minds: just when and will present day Clark get to sport the Superman digs?

“He still has quite a bit to go through,” Kelly said. “We’ll see that the world around [Clark] puts up some major stumbling blocks for him. As much as he’s progressing things around his life, the environment around him is going to shift after this episode to a place where he’s still got some major battles to overcome. [But] he’s earning his stripes all along.”

So Smallville fans I now ask you a question donning in my mind. Is Season Ten the perfect ending? Or should the series continue on to Season 11 [future Lois exploration anyone]?
