Michelle Trachtenberg Bringing New Series To CW

Buffy the Vampire Slayer star [and Gossip Girl alum] Michelle Trachtenberg is teaming up with Gossip Girl bosses to star in and executive produce an upcoming CW series.

Both the CW and Trachtenberg’s rep are confirming the news, stating: “Trachtenberg has joined forces with producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage under their shingle Fake Empire for this one hour drama,” Michelle’s rep tells us. “They pitched Michelle’s idea to Warner Brothers Studio, [which] bought the pitch right then and there, and immediately took it to the CW, [which] bought it in the room.”

A rumored plot has also recently been confirmed for the currently untitled project, and though short and sweet, the series is said to be about “a young criminology student with a dark past and a knack for profiling suspects.”

Trachtenberg talked briefly about the project a couple weeks ago, saying: “It’s something that is very female-driven, and it is an hour-long drama. It will be really cool and different, something you haven’t seen before.”

If series development and pilot production go well, look for the series to air on the CW beginning in the fall of 2011.
