Madden NFL 13 returns for another year of football and it quite possibly puts up its best offensive performance yet!

Madden NFL 13 brings to you a great presentation of the game of football that any fan of the game or the game of football can enjoy. Right from the beginning you are met with a nice opening presentation video and then placed into the game with numerous options right in front of you. Will you want to play a quick game, start your career, build an ultimate team or just play online? It’s all right there for you in a nicely set up home page menu. It is a home page menu that you can also hook up your fantasy football team through nfl.com. You can even join an online community and have your own leaderboards with those you want to play with. My Madden is once again there to help you create your ultimate Madden experience.

Madden NFL 13 – Gameplay Video (Green Bay Packers TD Drive)

No matter what mode you decide to play first, when it comes to the gameplay, it looks and feels better than ever. This is probably my favorite football experience from a video game in over 8 years. The new infinity engine that delivers real-time physics is absolutely great. It makes the feel of the game even more realistic and that much more fun to play. With each hit, each tackle and even the impact of the surrounding players makes this game feel that much better. It’s even fun to see a player stumble over another.

Running the ball was also a lot of fun, especially when you are able to break away for a long run. It’s not always easy, in fact it can be very difficult to run for a gain, which makes a big run feel rewarding as it should. Now I don’t always run, actually, I don’t run that often because I love to pass, pass and pass some more. The passing game is incredible and it really feels as if you can control just how you want to throw the ball. With total control passing you will be able to lead the receiver right where you want them. Pass it short and in front and they will cut to the ball, or pass it over their back shoulder and away from the defender. It makes controlling the field in front of you that much better and more realistic.

Now, one thing I struggled with as I once again learned the passing game is that I threw a lot of interceptions – a lot! In fact I had 16 interceptions in my first four games that I played. Now granted, I certainly forced a lot of balls that I shouldn’t have and those interceptions were completely my fault. There were only a couple of times where I was picked and it felt a little ridiculous. Thankfully, as always, you can edit the sliders and change things up to play the way you want it to. I turned down the interceptions just a little bit and it felt much better. More balls where deflected and dropped and I ended up only throwing 2 interceptions in the second half of my next game…both forced and both that I feel I was at fault. That’s my point though; this game is very realistic and very unforgiving. I love that about this game because it will now force me to make smarter decisions and to read the field a lot better, or to simply throw the ball away if nothing is open.

Madden NFL 13 – Gameplay Video (My Career Mode – Touchdown Drives)

Madden NFL 13 gets even deeper and more detailed with its connected careers. Career mode is by far the best this game has to offer where you can play as a player, a coach or an NFL legend – you can even create your own player. This is no longer just an offline mode, but it is now online as well where you can still play solo or with up to 31 other friends to make your career experience that much more enjoyable. The experience is deep as you go from week to week in your career, you’ll be able to earn experience game after game and even participate in practices to help you become the player you are meant to become. Whether you are a player or a coach, this mode is deep and detailed for each experience and it is something that will keep you busy for a very long time as you make your way to the hall of fame and compare your successes to other NFL greats.

Madden NFL 13 – Gameplay Video (Overtime Touchdown)

This is possibly the best football experience yet, from the feel of the game to the way it’s presented, certainly a game of football that needs to be played! Even the music used in the game is perfect for that ultimate football experience. I had a great deal of fun trying to pinpoint each pass I made to an open field location and that experience feels so good. It doesn’t feel good when you are under pressure and you force a pass that turns into an interception – that sucks, but it’s awesome, because it’s real football.

Score: 9/10

  1. Your review reads as if it were written by EA themselves as a press release. The truth of the matter is that this game is rated 2 stars out of 5 at Amazon because EA ripped out the features that were most important to its core audience:
    1. No Fantasy Draft
    2. No Editing Players
    3. No more having friends over to play Franchise Mode because you can only play with one team.
    4. No Importing Roster from NCAA Football.
    5. No creating a player and adding them to Connect Careers.
