Summer PC Gaming: Steam Summer Sales, New NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760, and Streaming To Twitch Through Raptr

Steam is currently holding its summer sale, which goes from July 11 to July 22nd. Being a hardcore gamer, it’s hard to pass up on sales that reach upward of 75% to 90% off, it’s just too tempting! Also, everything else is around 50% off, so those games that have evaded my collection are now in my possession. Games like Tomb Raider, Hitman: Absolution, and The Witcher 2 are titles I’ve picked up during the sale. While games I’ve already covered on FanBolt and still own, such as Sleeping Dogs, GRID 2, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Borderlands 2, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution have all seen great price drops as well. It’s such a great time of year to be a PC gamer! If you haven’t checked out Steam’s current summer sale or flash deals, you should head on over while you still have a chance!

Cheap games on PC’s are great and all, but only if you have the right computer to run them, especially the right graphics card. I key in on the graphics card because NVIDIA released its new GeForce GTX 760 graphics card, last month. The GeForce GTX 760 offers great performance for high-definition gaming at a much lower price than what’s normally seen for high end cards, starting at only $249. In NVIDIA’s press release, they mention that the card is already more powerful than the next-generation consoles that are set to release at the end of the year, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

“At a starting price of only $249, the GeForce GTX 760 ushers in a new level of performance, features and affordability, so gamers can experience today’s most graphically demanding titles with all the eye candy turned high. It’s a great time to be a PC gamer!” said Scott Herkelman, general manager of the GeForce GPU business at NVIDIA, in a press release.

So, really, how good is this graphics card? Well, I’m going to take it for a spin over the next several days, logging my experience and providing a review. So I’ll be sure to give my thoughts on what the GeForce GTX 760 offers for gamers, especially if they are currently looking for a great new graphics card at a lower price. Also, what a great time this is to test out some of these new games that I’ve just purchased through Steam. Plus, I will revisit some of the titles we’ve covered over the last couple of months, including GRID 2 and Company of Heroes 2.

In addition to covering the graphics card, I’ll use this opportunity to test out Raptr’s downloadable app that allows users to stream their gameplay video straight to Twitch. The new Raptr desktop app lets users quickly and easily share their favorite moments on Twitch without needing any additional software. I’ve only briefly tested it out, liking it quite well and excited to continue using it over the next week while testing out some of these games with the new graphics card.

“Twitch is the biggest destination for live gaming entertainment, so our partnership collectively brings together more than 50 million gamers to share and discuss the games they love,” said Dennis Fong, Raptr CEO and co-founder, in a press release. “We’re always discovering new and unique ways to connect players, and this is the perfect opportunity for gamers to showcase their gamer rep.”

Make sure to keep an eye out for my coverage next week!
