Fiddler On The Roof Review: The Perfect Cast

Fiddler On The Roof has always been in my top five favorite musicals just slightly behind Les Miserables and Miss Siagon. It’s a bittersweet story that you can’t help but fall in love with. And the music – well the catchy lyrics will surely be stuck in your mind for days after.

Fiddler On The Roof has returned to Atlanta for one week from March 16th to March 21st at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. I was lucky enough to be able to attend the event last night, and I have to say – this is the best cast I have seen yet. Harvey Fierstein in the role of Tevye seems like the perfect fit. From his first appearance on the stage, the audience welcomed him with a thunderous applause. They knew that they were in for greatness, and Fierstein didn’t disappoint. The rest of the essemble did a fabulous job as well and just worked together magically. The music, the sets, the story – if you haven’t experienced it yet – it’s not going to get any better than this.

Fiddler On The Roof tells the story of Tevye, a simple milkman with a wife and five daughters. They live in the small village of Anatevka, a place where tradition is everything – and it mustn’t be broken. As the story takes off we find ourselves on a journey of joy, secret and even unthinkable loves, heartache, humor, and so much more. Simply put, it’s a wonderful story about life and how we can emerge from even the darkest of situations.
