TV Review: ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 2 Premiere

It feels like it’s been forever doesn’t it? Well, the wait is over! The hot guys, good music, and unbelievable tension is back in less than 24 hours. The Vampire Diaries Season 2 premiere will be steaming up televisions everywhere tonight!

With any television series, fans sometimes worry about how the transition from Season One to Season 2 will go. After all, it’s usually Season One that is always a fan’s favorite. However, with the new season of Vampire Diaries, it feels like we’re just getting started. I was able to check out the screener last night, and I was more than satisfied by what I saw. While witches and vampires held much of the screen time last year, in the season finale we got a hint at another supernatural creature that may be among those in Mystic Falls. While that mystery isn’t going to be answered in the season premiere, we do meet a new character who I have a suspension is somehow going to be linked in. And if intrigue wasn’t enough, new comer Taylor Kinney’s good-looks surely will be. He’s like a Dr. McSteamy Jr.

The main focus in the premiere is Katherine and we quickly learn exactly why she is back… and also that she is not welcome. While Katherine never seemed to be one that could have her emotions easily hurt – she does seem to take the brothers’ disinterest to heart, delivering a message that may just have a fatal effect on someone near and dear to everyone’s hearts. That’s as much of a spoiler as you’re going to find here!

Another area of interest in the premiere is Damon. He finds out that it wasn’t Elena he kissed, and when Stefan and Elena find out that he thought he was kissing Elena… it naturally starts going down hill from there. But, there will be one scene that between Damon and Elena that I can tell you fans will be including in their fan music videos on YouTube. Elena may not realize it yet, but all the fans do. She belongs with Damon. (Or perhaps this is just my personal preference…. either way it just needs to happen already!!)

Regardless of your expectations going into tonight’s premiere, I can say that you will be given just enough to make you yearn for more. After all, that is what The Vampire Diaries does best.

Additional Notes:
– The best song in the premiere goes to Hurts with “Wonderful Life”. Just grabbed it from iTunes and I recommend you do the same!
