FX Sets Premiere Date For Season Two Of The Riches

The second season of The Riches (TV-MA), starring Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver, will premiere on FX Tuesday, March 18 at 10 PM ET/PT. Also returning as series regulars are Shannon Woodward, Noel Fisher, Aidan Mitchell, Margo Martindale, Gregg Henry and Todd Stashwick, with Jared Harris joining the cast. FX has scheduled seven episodes for the second season, which will air Tuesdays at 10 PM ET/PT for seven consecutive weeks.

In The Riches, Izzard and Driver play Wayne and Dahlia Malloy, Irish Travelers from rural Louisiana. In season one, Wayne, Dahlia and their three children broke all ties from their community when an unfortunate auto accident provided them the opportunity to assume the identity of a deceased, wealthy and “normal” family. Seduced by the idea of a bigger life as “H. Douglas and Cherien Rich” and armed with the keys to a new house in a posh neighborhood, the Malloys soon found suburban life more twisted and challenging that any of their previous stings.

The second season begins with Wayne sending the family on the road, as he attempts to clean up the mess left in the wealthy suburban neighborhood of Eden Falls. He plans to join his family, never to return. However, Dahlia quickly realizes that life on the road searching for the next con doesn’t offer the same fulfillment it once did. Wayne, too, has tasted the appealing fruits of a normal life. A potential $13 million land developing deal that Hugh Panetta brings to Wayne only adds to this appeal, as this lucrative payday would allow the Malloys to stop running forever. These higher financial stakes bring larger obstacles as Wayne struggles to keep Dahlia’s cousin Dale in check and maintain a safe distance from a new adversary – another Traveller, Quinn. His never-ending task of hiding his family members’ true identities proves to be an all-encompassing and exhausting mission, as the Malloys continue on their quest of stealing the American Dream.

In the show’s inaugural season, Driver was nominated for both an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award in the Best Dramatic Actress category, and the show averaged 3.3 million Adults 18-49 and 5.1 million total viewers in a weekly multi-telecast cume. The Riches was created by playwright Dmitry Lipkin, who executive produces along with Izzard. Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin are also executive producers, along with Michael Rosenberg, Mark Morgan and Guy Oseary. FX Productions and Fox Television Studios produce.

Another FX original series, Dirt, starring Courteney Cox, will have its second season debut on Tuesday, March 2 at 10 PM ET/PT.
