Fran Drescher Returning To Television

Former star of the laugh-out-loud show The Nanny, Fran Drescher, is returning to television comedy.

Fran is currently developing the show, called Happily Divorced. The show will air, of course, on TV Land, and to put it simply, the sitcom is based on her life with ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson, who revealed he was gay when they divorced after 21 years of marriage.

Earlier this week, TV Land announced that Drescher would only write and produce the series, but now, sources are confirming that Drescher has “agreed to star in it, too.”

Jacobson and Drescher are not only best friends but business partners. Jacobson, The Nanny‘s co-creator, is a producer of Drescher’s talk show and Happily Divorced.

No word yet on who will play Drescher’s ex-hubby on the show.

Drescher will also soon be reuniting with former Nanny costar Charles Shaughnessey (aka Mr. Sheffield) who will be a guest on the Dec. 6 episode of her Fran Drescher Talk Show.

Excited Drescher is returning to her comedy sitcom roots? Is the storyline one that will attract fans? Sound off below.
