Radiohead & Plant Make Mercury Shortlist

RADIOHEAD, ROBERT PLANT and ESTELLE have made it to the shortlist for the 2008 Mercury Music Prize.

Rockers Radiohead’s album In Rainbows joins Led Zeppelin frontman Plant’s duets LP with Alison Krauss, titled Raising Sand, and singer/rapper Estelle’s Shine in the final 12 acts who will battle it out for the coveted British accolade.

Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has scored his third nomination in as many years, after being named alongside his other band The Last Shadow Puppets for their latest release The Age Of The Understatement.

Last year’s (07) award was handed to The Klaxons for their debut album Myths Of The Near Future.

The winner of 2008’s gong will be announced at a ceremony in London on 9 September (08).
