MySpace Music Exclusively Premieres New Franz Ferdinand Album

MySpace Music, the world’s premiere online music portal, is proud to announce the world exclusive of Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, the 3rd album from the band Franz Ferdinand. Starting today, January 22nd, MySpace users across the world will be able to stream the highly-anticipated album for free, giving fans a chance to preview it before the official release on January 27.

Franz Ferdinand formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2002. The rock band is named after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and comprises of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals and guitar), Bob Hardy (bass guitar), Nick McCarthy (rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing vocals), and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion and backing vocals).

The band first experienced chart success when their second single “Take Me Out” reached #3 in the UK Charts, followed by their debut album Franz Ferdinand which debuted on the UK album chart at #3.The band went on to win the 2004 Mercury Music Prize and two BRIT Awards in 2005 for Best British Group and Best British Rock Act. NME named Franz Ferdinand as their Album of the Year. From the album, three top-ten singles were released, “Take Me Out”, “The Dark of the Matinée” and “This Fire”. Their 2005 Grammy-nominated second album You Could Have It So Much Better…With Franz Ferdinand immediately topped the UK charts at # 1, entered the Billboard Charts at #8 and debuted on the Top Ten in 18 other countries. The album covered more musical ground than the first and launched another string of successful singles: “Do You Want To”, “Walk Away”, “The Fallen” & “Eleanor Put Your Boots On”.

In addition to the MySpace album exclusive, starting today users can customize their profiles with a personally created page theme by Franz Ferdinand. Fans can skin their page with this simple upgrade feature to show their support for the band.

  1. I love this band. I had never heard of them and then I heard a version of Take Me Out on Guitar Hero. I went and listened to some of their stuff and they’re pretty good.
