‘The Walking Dead’ Is The Most Watched Drama Series In Basic Cable History

The Walking Dead is the most watched drama series among adults 18 to 49 in basic cable history. Can’t really say we’re that surprised. The six episode first season has been absolutely incredible. The Walking Dead has managed to pull in fans of the zombie genre, and make fans out of those of us who didn’t care for it before.

Last night’s season finale attracted four million viewers in the 18 to 49 bracket. The series averaged 3.5 million in the same demographic throughout the season. Season two has already been picked up by AMC and will be a thirteen episode run.

Just last week, The Walking Dead director fired the entire writing staff of the series which naturally caused a great deal of concern among fans. Season two is expected to be written by freelance writers. The only other series currently on television that does this is BBC’s Torchwood.

Did you tune in last night for The Walking Dead finale? What did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for! Sound off in our comments below and let us know if you think the ratings will hold up next season without a writing staff!
