1957 – Sun Records released Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire.”

1972 – James Taylor married Carly Simon. The couple separated in 1982 and later divorced.

1977 – At a London show, Elton John announced he would no longer tour. Fortunately, he resumed playing live concerts on February 3, 1979 with a show in Sweden.

1988 – U2’s concert film Rattle And Hum opened.

1992 – Bon Jovi’s Keep The Faith was released. The album marked their first effort in 5 years.

1995 – Hootie and the Blowfish and Bob Dylan reached an out of court settlement over the band’s unauthorized use of Dylan’s lyrics in their song “Only Want To Be With You.”

1997 – John Denver’s last recording, “The Unplugged Collection,” hit stores in the UK.
