The Bold And The Beautiful Changes It’s Look

Television’s most-watched soap opera is changing their look! CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful‘s opening title sequences is about to experience a CGI transformation! Over a 24-year span, the show has had only two different opening title sequences. But debuting February 21, the new open will feature a flashy Forrester fashion show created via CGI magic — a first for a daytime drama.

“This is pretty monumental for us,” says executive producer-head writer Brad Bell. “We’ve always taken the if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it approach to our opening credits. The first one was so good we kept it from 1987 until 2004 — unlike a lot of things from the ’80s it never seemed dated. Our current one has been running for six and a half years. It’s beautiful and still works, but now we want to let viewers know that our show is all about experimenting, not only with our storytelling but with our image. We want to be known as a show that’s thinking outside the box.”

Shot on a CBS soundstage with only 20 extras [that were made to look like a crowd of 200], the sequence will continue to evolve, sometimes from episode to episode. “It’s set up so that the various elements, from music to special effects, will constantly change,” Bell says. “It’ll be a fun, ongoing surprise for the audience.”

It’s about time soap operas catch up with the times, don’t you agree? Or do you love The Bold And The Beautiful’s opening credits just as they are and have been for 24 years?
