Craig Ferguson Leaving ‘Late Late Show’
Craig Ferguson, who has hosted The Late Late Show for ten years now, announced to the studio audience at a recent taping for the show that he will step down from hosting the show in December.
Ferguson poked fun at Gwyneth Paltrow’s announcement of her separation from Chris Martin earlier this year in the announcement, saying, “CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are ‘consciously uncoupling. But we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much.”
CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler said in a statement, “During his 10 years as host, Craig has elevated CBS to new creative and competitive heights at 12:30. He infused the broadcast with tremendous energy, unique comedy, insightful interviews and some of the most heartfelt monologues seen on television. [His] versatile talents as a writer, producer, actor and comedian speak to his great days ahead. While we’ll miss Craig and can’t thank him enough for his contributions to both the show and the Network, we respect his decision to move on, and we look forward to celebrating his final broadcasts during the next eight months.”
This follows the recent news of Stephen Colbert being named to replace David Letterman on The Late Show once Letterman retires next year. While many felt Ferguson should have landed that spot, there’s no word on whether being passed over contributed to his decision to leave.
No replacement for Ferguson has been named yet but is expected in the coming weeks.

clearly Craig Feruson is the funniest man on late night tv and his ability to put guests at ease second to none. why he was not considered for D L replacement shows how out of touch CBS management is.
