Charlie Cox To Take On ‘Daredevil’ Role

British actor Charlie Cox, whom many of you may recognize as Owen Sleater of Boardwalk Empire fame, is now set to take his place in superhero-dom. The actor has been  slated to play Matt Murdock/Daredevil – Marvel’s blind superhero – in an upcoming 13-episode Netflix series. Many will recall the role of Daredevil was previously played by Ben Affleck in the eponymous (and not very well-received) 2003 feature film.

Born Matt Murdock, superhero Daredevil  was involved in a radioactive accident that cost him his eyesight, his other senses becoming stronger as a result. Daredevil became known as the “Man Without Fear” and first appeared in Marvel comics in 1964.

ABC Television Studios and Marvel Television plan to roll out original programming for three other superhero series in accompaniment to Daredevil, including those of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. All four series will be set in and around Hell’s Kitchen, New York, and the four heroes will eventually come together for a Netflix miniseries called The Defenders.
