David Beckham Considers Return to Soccer

A mere year after cutting his 20 year career short, soccer superstar David Beckham is already pondering coming out of retirement.

When the 39-year-old phenomenon announced he was leaving the game last May, sports and pop culture fans alike mourned the exit of the most popular athlete in the world.

But Beckham couldn’t stay away too long – in new BBC documentary David Beckham: Into The Unknown, the icon admits:

“Now I go to watch a basketball game and, when you are watching athletes play at the top of their game, for me, it gives me that itch again and I want to be back in the game then and I start thinking to myself, ‘Could I play again? Could I go back? Could I come out of retirement and start playing again?”‘

Beckham has confessed that retirement was “the toughest decision” he’s ever made – and now, he’s reached the end of his honeymoon outlook on staying home.

Since he left soccer, Beckham has been focused on his Miami-based MLS franchise.
