HBO Picks Up ‘Vice Principals’

HBO has officially announced that Eastbound & Down star Danny McBride will return to star in a new comedy series entitled Vice Principals. The announcement was made by HBO Programming President Michael Lombardo.

Vice Principals is set for 18 episodes to be filmed, though how many are shown for each season will be decided later. The show was created by McBride and Jody Hill, who also created Eastbound & Down together.

Lombardo said in the press release, “Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can’t get enough of. The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible.”

McBride said on the announcement, “HBO was the perfect creative family for Eastbound & Down, and we’re excited to pack up the van for the next adventure.”

The story follows a high school and the people who almost run it, the vice principals.
