‘Bates Motel’ Season 3 Details Revealed at ATX Festival

FanBolt attended the Bates Motel panel with executive producers Carlton Cuse and Keri Ehrin and we’ve got some goodies for you that we couldn’t wait to share! Season 2 recently wrapped and with season 3 around the corner, we’ve certainly got some info for you to mull over.

Before the panel, we were treated to a screening of the season 2 finale in which (SPOILERS AHEAD!) Norman learned that he did kill his teacher after sleeping with her, and is now fully aware of his blackouts and the violent state he enters when they happen. The fans were excited to re-watch the thrilling finale and when Carlton and Keri walked in right after there was an excitement in the room  that you could feel.

Now for the info you really want…panel highlights!

-Carlton Cuse mentioned he’s a fan of George Clooney

-Vera Farmiga was the first choice to play Norma. The EP’s sent her 3 scripts and a little love note with hopes that she’d say yes to the role and she was immediately interested.

– We could see a Norma/Sheriff Romero relationship blossom next season.

-Bradley (Nicola Peltz) may not be gone for good.

-Everything that we see in the show is a perception…even Norma’s explanation of Dylan’s conception, meaning we’ll delve deeper into the story behind that as well.

– Fun Fact: Freddie Highmore has been in college throughout filming of the show and during the break between season 1 and 2, he was in Madrid translating spanish legal documents in a law firm as part of his studies. He’s fluent in Arabic and Spanish.

-Carlton sees a clear ending for the show in the way of Lost. Bates has a clear cut beginning, middle and end to the story.

-The end of the show will not be the exact same as it’s inspiration Psycho.
