Kristen Wiig to Make Directorial Debut

Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are attached to write, produce, and star in an upcoming comedy for Tristar. The film also marks Wiig’s directorial debut. The pair previously co-wrote Bridesmaids and were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and are excited to

Wiig and Mumolo will play best friends who “find themselves in over their heads and out of their depths.” The plot also involves a town called Vista Del Mar.

“We’re very excited to be writing. We will be going into a cave for months to finish. An actual cave. We found one that’s nice and big. We’re putting a couch in there,” a statement from Wiig and Mumolo said, according to the The Hollywood Reporter

Bridesmaids was a smash-hit, bringing in over $288.4 million worldwide.
