Will Ferrell Crashed a World Cup Party and It Was as Great as You Think

Will Ferrell whipped revellers into a frenzy at a U.S. soccer party in Brazil yesterday by giving a surprise speech and poking fun at newly-banned Uruguayan player Luis Suarez.

The Anchorman 2 star is in the country to support the U.S. national team at the World Cup tournament and he dropped into a party at the fan headquarters in Recife to fire up enthusiasm ahead of the U.S. team’s match against Germany today.

In a video posted on the team’s YouTube page, Ferrell dons the club’s jersey and impersonates a soccer star during his speech, saying, “I am so honored to be playing tomorrow. I’m not gonna lie to you, I’m not in the best shape. I’m not in soccer shape right now, but I’m gonna try my best and I’m going to live up to the spirit of this American team.”

He also poked fun at professional player Suarez, who bit an opponent during a World Cup match on Tuesday, adding, “If the game gets close, I will bite! I will bite the opponent! I will bite them! I will bite every German player if I have to.”

Suarez, who plays for British club Liverpool FC as well as his national team Uruguay, has been suspended for nine international games, bringing his World Cup run to an abrupt end, and banned from any soccer activity for four months.
