Shia LaBeouf Pleas Not Guilty After Theater Arrest

Shia LaBeouf has been released from jail following an appearance in court in New York City this morning to face charges stemming from his dramatic arrest at a Broadway theater.

The Transformers star was hauled out of a performance of musical Cabaret on Thursday night amid allegations he was disrupting the show and smoking inside the Studio 54 theatre.

He was arrested and subsequently charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass before spending the night in jail.

LaBeouf appeared at a Manhattan court on Friday morning and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He was released and walked out of the courtroom to a nearby hotel. LaBeouf is due back in court on July 24.

The actor’s arrest comes after months of increasingly bizarre behavior which has sparked fears for his well-being.

He hit headlines earlier this year when he walked the red carpet at a film festival in Germany wearing a brown paper bag on his head, while he also became part of an odd art installation in Los Angeles and announced plans to retire from public life.
