Man with Knife Arrested at ABC Studios Allegedly Wanted to Kill Michael Strahan

A homeless man wielding a knife has been arrested in New York City after he attempted to gain access to the TV studio where Good Morning America (GMA) is filmed.

Andre Johnson, 25, is believed to have approached security guards outside ABC Studios in Manhattan’s Times Square yesterday and demanded to be let into the building.

He was turned away, but allegedly returned carrying a knife and attacked one of the security guards.

Police were called to the scene, and pictures show cops restraining Johnson on the street outside the TV hub.

Johnson was arrested and taken to a local police station where he was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing, according to the New York Daily News.

He also allegedly later told police during a debriefing that he was there to kill football player-turned-TV host Michael Strahan, who is a contributor on GMA.

A spokesperson for ABC called the cop a “hero” for tackling the man, and added, “It was a scary situation but thanks to the fast actions of NYPD the situation was quickly under control.”
