‘True Detective’ and ‘Breaking Bad’ Are the Big Winners of Television Critics Associate Awards

Breaking Bad, True Detective and Veep were the big winners at the Television Critics Association Awards in Beverly Hills, California on yesterday, picking up five of the night’s top honors.

Breaking Bad was named Program of the Year for the second year running, while acclaimed drama True Detective picked up Best Mini-Series and the show’s star, Matthew McConaughey, claimed the Best Individual Performance in a Drama prize for his role as tortured cop Rust Cohle.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus picked up the Best Individual Performance in Comedy award, while her show Veep tied for Best Comedy Series with Louie.

  • Best New Program of the Year – Orange Is the New Black
  • Best Comedy Series – Veep & Louie (tie)
  • Best Drama Series – The Good Wife
  • Best Mini-Series – True Detective
  • Best Individual Performance in a Drama – Matthew McConaughey (True Detective)
  • Best Individual Performance in a Comedy – Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep)
  • Best News & Information Program – Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey
  • Best Reality Series – RuPaul’s Drag Race
  • Best Youth Program – The Fosters
  • Heritage Award – Saturday Night Live
  • Career Achievement – James Burrows
