‘The Walking Dead’ Creator Robert Kirkman Announces Production of New Pilot at Comic-Con 2014

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman announced at Comic-Con 2014 that the pilot of the TV adaptation of Outcast is going into production, in partnership with Cinemax. This marks Kirkman’s first time penning a pilot.

Outcast follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.

Kirkman developed Outcast at the same time he was developing the comic book series of the same name for his Skybound imprint at Image Comics. The first issue of the comic book, which was released in June of this year, has not only exceeded The Walking Dead comic book sales at their peak, but has also been met with overwhelming enthusiasm from fans and critics alike. The second issue will debut at Comic-Con tomorrow.

Kirkman will serve as Executive Producer alongside David Alpert of Circle of Confusion; Sue Naegle; Chris Black; and Sharon Tal Yguado of FIC.
