Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis Might Be Leaving ‘SNL’

It’s no joke according to several insiders – Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis are leaving Saturday Night Live after this season! Two sources have told Us Weekly that Wiig, Samberg and Sudeikis are following in the footsteps of SNL alums Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

“Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis are all leaving after the end of the season,” says one insider. “It will be a huge blow to the show. Without Andy’s video shorts and Kristen saving every skit, they’ll need help!”

And though a rep for Wiig, 38, and Sudeikis, 36, refutes this – telling Us, “No decisions are made until the season is over” – an insider says the timing is right, especially for the Bridesmaids star.

“Kristen was talking about leaving a while ago,” says a Wiig pal. “With her movie success, it’s no surprise.”

Meanwhile, Sudeikis has a new movie in the works, Relanxious, where he will star opposite his real-life love Olivia Wilde. In the flick (which also features SNL pal Fred Armisen) Sudeikis will play an agoraphobic looking for love.

What’s your thoughts on the news? We think this will be a major blow to the series. SNL has struggled to stay consistently funny over the years, and has made considerable progress in our opinion from the lull of a few years back. Losing the strongest players on SNL is definitely going to cause a noticable void. We hope that contract negotiations may change the news, but we’ll keep you posted regardless.

  1. I’m not all that surprised about Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis – they have had a lot of movie roles and success lately. Not sure what Andy is planning on doing. Although, he is scheduled in a new Adam Sandler movie. In my my mind that only leaves Bill Hader to carry the show and Taran Killam has really stepped up his game. I hope he is moved from featured to the main cast.

  2. I saw Andy’s appearance fee the other day. 75k to 100k…. maybe he just plans on making appearances 🙂

  3. My friend mentioned something interesting last night. That each person really has only 2 to 5 years in which they’ll find SNL funny. I was saying that the show was just starting to have some really awesome skits again… and I credit a lot of that to Kristen Wiig… she’s brilliant. I’m expecting that show is going to have another lull without these 3 – they’re all awesome.
