‘Cougar Town’ Moving to TBS

The Courteney Cox series Cougar Town is moving to TBS from ABC. The series had been ailing in the ratings since its return to the air earlier this year following a prolonged absence.

After initially being left off of ABC’s 2012 schedule, the series replaced the short-lived cross-dressing comedy Work It in February, but failed to gain traction in the ratings. Its most recent episode on Tuesday did enjoy a 15-percent boost in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, posting a 1.5 rating/4 share in the demo, but that was up from a series low the previous week.

ABC will air the remaining episodes of Season 3, beginning with back-to-back episodes on May 15. The show will be pre-empted by Dancing With the Stars on May 22, but will return for its hour-long finale on May 29.

As part of the move, TBS has gained repeat rights to the series’ first three seasons.
