Former Spice Girl Mel B. Says She Isn’t to Blame for Geri ‘Ginger Spice’ Halliwell Leaving Group

Former Spice Girls star Geri Halliwell didn’t quit the group because she was feuding with bandmate Melanie Brown, according to Scary Spice herself.

Halliwell’s shock departure in 1996 marked the beginning of the end of the girl power superstars, and a spat with Mel B has often been cited as the reason behind the split.

But now Brown is keen to set the record straight once and for all as she continues to fight for a second Spice Girls reunion tour with or without Victoria ‘Posh Spice’ Beckham, who insists she’s finished with the group for good.

During a chat with TV host Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday, the singer-turned-TV personality said, “I don’t think it was my feud (that led to the split). I think she had some stuff going on in her head… I don’t think she could take the pressure. She actually talked about it in her book and she just bounced.”

But Mel B admits Halliwell’s timing could have been better: “She happened to have left on my birthday. What a b**ch!”

Also during a grilling about her life as a Spice Girl, Mel B confessed that she and rap kingpin Diddy are now gym buddies after he upset her at an awards show.

She recalled, “I did have an argument with Puff Daddy… He yelled at me to get off the stage when I was hosting this awards show… I said, ‘Come over here and say that to my face’, and then we got into a bit of an ‘f you’ kind of scenario.

“Now I see him at SoulCycle (gym) and he’s fine. He’s like, ‘Hey Mel, how are you?’ It’s all cool.”
