NBC Hires New Lily Munster

Mariana Klaveno is no longer being cast as Lily Munster in NBC’s Mockingbird Lane due to contractual obligations. The role of Lily Munster will now be taken on by Portia De Rossi.

Originally intended as a fall entry for NBC, Mockingbird Lane is now a candidate for midseason according to reports. Creator Bryan Fuller explained that the delay results from the difficulty of casting actors who can “navigate the turns” and handle the “mouthfuls of dialogue” required to make the venerable characters come alive in an hour-long dramedy.

He also promises that while he loves the original Munsters, they will be “reinvented” and “reimagined” this time.
