Netherworld’s Roy Wooley Competes On Syfy’s ‘Face Off’

Consistently voted one of the top haunted houses in the country, Atlanta’s Netherworld employs some of the best talent in the industry and one of the hometown haunt’s best will compete on Syfy’s third season of Face Off!

Special-effects master Roy Wooley grew up in Goodsprings, Alabama, where his family hoped for him to choose a stable profession like preaching or coal mining. However, after sneaking into American Werewolf in London he fell in love with special-effects makeup and the creation of monsters. Since there were not any SFX schools for Roy to attend, he relied on tutorial videos, books and friends to learn more about the field. When he moved to Georgia, Roy took a job at Netherworld Haunted House as an actor. Over the years he has built up and now runs the makeup department at one of the country’s leading haunted houses. In his audition video, Roy says “people didn’t think I could make a living doing this. Well, it may have taken me 20 years, but I am making a living doing THIS.”

Tune in this fall to see Roy, Chief Makeup Artist & Creature Designer at Netherworld Haunted House, competes on Syfy channel’s “Face Off” along with the best makeup artists in the industry. The series is a competition/elimination that explores the world of special-effects makeup artists and the unlimited imagination that allows them to create amazing works of living art. Each week contestants are challenged on a wide range of skills sets, including prosthetics, 3-D design, sculpting, eye enhancers, casting and molding. Judges include three-time Academy Award winner Ve Neill (“Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Edward Scissorhands”) and Hollywood veterans Glenn Hetrick (“Heroes”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, “The X-Files”) and Patrick Tatopoulos (“Underworld”, “Independence Day”, “Resident Evil: Extinction”). Catch new episodes of “Face Off” Wednesdays 10/9c, only on Syfy.
