Kelly Clarkson Takes Daughter River to First Concert

Kelly Clarkson surprised fans by making her first post-baby appearance joining Trisha Yearwood and husband Garth Brooks for their concert in Illinois on Friday.

The singer welcomed her first child, daughter River Rose, with husband Brandon Blackstock in June, and she made a return to the stage to sing her duet with Yearwood, called “PrizeFighter”.

Just before Clarkson came on, Brooks told the crowd about his wife’s new track, saying, “You’ve got this cool new song coming out. It’s with you and Kelly Clarkson. I’m going to be Kelly Clarkson tonight! I can sing better than Kelly Clarkson.”

However the audience in Rosemont’s Allstate Arena gave a rousing cheer for the new mom as she appeared as she brushed off Brooks’ light-hearted jibe and took his place on stage.

Following the gig, Clarkson took to Twitter to share a photo of her daughter backstage at the concert wearing bejewelled headphones.

Clarkson’s fellow American Idol alum and mom-to-be Carrie Underwood was also in the audience for the concert. Lady Gaga and her boyfriend Taylor Kinney were among the revellers at Brooks’ first show of his massive comeback tour, which kicked off on Thursday for a nearly sold-out 11-show run.
