Floyd Mayweather Jr. Reportedly Planning to Retire in 2015

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is planning to step away from the ring and retire after three more fight nights.

The 37-year-old mapped out his plans to walk away from the sport during an interview with ESPN’s Dan Raphael, ahead of his rematch with Marcos Maidana on Saturday.

The revered sports writer says, “Floyd said he will fight Saturday, then in May and have his last fight next September.”

With 47 wins under his belt, the Maidana rematch and two more fights could take his tally to a round 50.

Challengers are not yet known but insiders feel sure Britain’s Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao will be on the list. Pacquiao recently announced his plans to retire either next year or in 2016 to focus his attention on a political career in his native Philippines.
